Rogers Brazier & Mace Thornton, Co-Authors

Rogers Brazier is a lifelong Kansan, raised in McPherson and Wamego, with degrees in political science (Kansas State University) and the law (Washburn University of Topeka).  After thirty years in Topeka and a varied career working with awesome people, he’s now happily retired, living for more than a decade in the wonderful small town of Burlingame.  His passions include sports, reading, learning, following the markets, serving his formerly homeless cats, and staying active.  Rogers has two adult daughters of whom he’s incredibly proud: Morgan (and Josh) in Illinois, and Hayley (and Thomas) in Oregon.  He has a grandson, Theo, and a granddaughter, Spencer.

Mace Thornton is a former journalist, an author, and strategic communications specialist. His debut novel, Jawbone Holler, was published in 2024. A native of Troy, Kansas, he grew up on a small farm in the Missouri River Hills of northeast Kansas. With a degree in journalism from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., among his passions are writing, sports, and the people of agriculture. His award-winning journalism and commentaries have been published across the nation. His career took him far away from his home state for more than three decades, but he now lives a little closer, in the St. Louis area with his wife, Denise, and their spirited rescue pup, Anna Mae. In addition to writing, he is a partner at Stratovation Group, a research, marketing, and communications firm headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. The Thorntons have three adult children scattered to the corners of our great nation: Trace (and Amy) in Virginia, Troy (and Katrina) in Washington state, and Taylor (and Shawn) in Georgia. They also have one granddaughter, Grace.

Brazier and Thornton's Journey With Personal Chapters

Author Rogers Brazier was referred to Personal Chapters Publishing by his good friend, Julie Riphahn. Julie had worked with Publisher Anne Spry in reformatting and updating her late daughter's book, The Timekeeper.

Rogers' brother-in-law, Mace Thornton, had just seen his debut novel, Jawbone Holler, published but was looking for something a little less costly than his first book project.

Rogers met in person with Spry and Mace talked with her on the phone and Personal Chapters Publishing seemed a good fit for West Bottoms, especially after Spry's enthusiastic response after a read-through of the manuscript.
