Giuliana Palma
Giuliana is the Italian translation of this author's given name of Julianne. She grew up in Topeka, Kansas, where it was unusual to be Italian. Her father accompanied her Aunt Maria on a journey from the small town of Moiano, Italy to the U. S. in 1950. She always had a close relationship to her aunt, watching her cook some wonderful Italian dishes and just enjoying her stories.
Giuliana graduated from Washburn University with a BA in communications and has worked at three television stations and two newspapers. Now she's putting her photography and writing skills to good use in her own freelance business.
Giuliana is pictured here with her Aunt Maria and her goddaughter Marie.

Guliana's Journey With Personal Chapters
As with many of Personal Chapters' clients, Giuliana was referred to us by a friend. And, like most of our clients, we became fast new friends during the publishing process. Julie (not her pen name but the name she has gone by most of her life) was determined to capture her beloved Aunt Maria's immigration and assimilation story. She knew how she wanted it to look, even down to the exact shade of blue she wanted for the cover. By collaborating in Zoom meetings and enjoying an initial get-acquainted cup of coffee, we were able to comply with Julie's precise parameters and get the book done in time for her to make a trip to Pennsylvania to hand-deliver the book.
